About the Channel

We are launching a new YouTube business/economics documentary channel called Where’d the Money Go?, produced by Idea Grove Studios.

The channel investigates the economics behind everyday purchases, businesses, and industries by answering one simple question:

Where does the money actually go?

Example episodes include:

• You Paid a Plumber $600. Where Did the Money Go?

• You Paid $15,000 for a Roof. Where Did the Money Go?

• This Contractor Makes $1 Million a Year. Why Is He Broke?

• Your Mechanic Charged $1,500. How Much Did the Shop Keep?

We are looking for a narrator who can become the consistent, recognizable voice of the channel.

The Voice We’re Looking For

We want someone who sounds natural, intelligent, curious, confident, and conversational.

Think modern business mini-documentary, not radio announcer, corporate training video, or exaggerated YouTube personality.

The narration needs enough personality to make financial concepts entertaining while still sounding credible when explaining numbers, margins, and business economics.

A little dry humor and personality is welcome.

This must be human-recorded narration. No AI-generated voices.

Typical Episodes

• Approximately 8–10 minutes

• Approximately 1,300–1,800 words

• Initially approximately 4 videos per month

• Potential for ongoing weekly work as the channel grows

What We Provide

• Finished narration script

• Pronunciation/creative notes when necessary

• Research and fact checking already completed

• Consistent production schedule

Your responsibility is simply to deliver an excellent performance and clean, professionally recorded audio.

Audio Requirements

• Clean professional-quality recording

• No background noise, echo, clipping, or excessive processing

• Consistent volume and tone

• WAV preferred

• Mistakes edited out

• Reasonable pickups/corrections included

Paid Audition

We will select a small number of finalists to record the same approximately 60-second excerpt from Episode 1.

Audition budget: approximately $15–$25.

We intentionally use the same passage for every finalist so we can compare storytelling, pacing, personality, number delivery, and overall fit for the channel.

The selected narrator will then be hired to record the complete first episode and potentially become the ongoing narrator for the channel.

When Applying, Please Include

Your 2–3 most relevant narration samples. Documentary, business, finance, educational, or story-driven YouTube work is preferred.

Your price for approximately 1,300–1,800 words / 8–10 finished minutes.

Your typical turnaround time.

Your recording setup/microphone.

Whether reasonable corrections/pickups are included.

Whether you are interested in consistent work of approximately 4 episodes per month.

Whether you are willing to complete our paid 60-second audition.

We are interested in building a long-term relationship with the right narrator and creating a recognizable voice for Where’d the Money Go?
