Overview
Are you a natural in front of the camera, a skilled video editor behind it, and passionate about YouTube as a platform? We’re looking for an on-camera content creator who can host, edit, and elevate our YouTube presence with engaging long-form videos on consumer-focused topics.
This role is perfect for someone who blends sharp storytelling, video editing chops, and is a YouTube native — someone who can bring energy to consumer news, humanize complex ideas, and turn scripts into content that connects with and matters to viewers.
Important: This is not just a behind-the-scenes producer role. You’ll be the face of our YouTube channel — hosting, building community, and helping shape our voice on the platform.
Potential video topics include:
* How to move out of your parents’ house (https://www.consumeraffairs.com/movers/how-to-move-out-of-your-parents-house.html)
* Is an extended auto warranty right for you? (https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/is-an-extended-car-warranty-worth-it.html)

* What is a good credit score, and how can you have one? (https://www.consumeraffairs.com/finance/what-is-a-good-credit-score.html)
What You’ll Do
* Be the on-camera host for YouTube content
* Shoot and edit 1-2 long-form videos per week
* Collaborate with Social Media Manager on platform strategy
* Script and storyboard content with a clear, engaging narrative
* Stay up to date on platform trends and ideate content accordingly
* Own the full content cycle: ideation → hosting → editing → publishing
What We’re Looking For
* A strong on-camera presence – charismatic, clear, and relatable
* Experience creating engaging long-form video content for YouTube
* Skilled in editing with tools like Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar
* Great with storytelling: you know how to simplify and energize complex topics
* Comfortable taking initiative, testing content ideas, and iterating based on performance
* Fluent English speaker, excellent communicator
Bonus Points If You Have
* Livestream or live Q&A hosting experience
* Background in journalism, content marketing, or media
* Understanding of AI, tech, or future-of-work themes
Location & Availability
* U.S.-based only
To Apply
* Please submit a short video intro (or a recent hosted video reel)
* Include a link to your portfolio or social content samples
* Share a few lines on how you'd approach building an engaged YouTube audience for ConsumerAffairs
You will be asked to answer the following questions when submitting a proposal:
Please share 2–3 long form video samples where you appear on camera as the host or personality. (Links to YouTube or portfolio sites are welcome.)
Can you describe your process for producing video content? What steps do you handle personally (script, shoot, edit, etc.)?
What tools do you use for video editing and post-production? Please share an example where your editing significantly improved the performance or impact of a video.
